“Voices from Kids” Community Education Project on Children from Divorced/Blended Families 2.0
Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS)
This project was launched from December 2022 to September 2024 to raise awareness of co-parenting responsibilities among separated or divorced parents and provide support to children dealing with the emotional challenges of parental separation. The project aimed to improve the emotional and psychological well-being of children and families affected by divorce.
As part of the project, the “共親恐龍教育短片” (Co-parenting Dinosaur Education Short Film) microfilm was created to address children’s emotional struggles during parental separation. It was specifically designed for social media platforms and educational sessions, reaching over 1,000 viewers. Additionally, around 1,000 books featuring the “Co-parenting Dinosaur Family” characters were distributed to assist children from divorced families, with online accessibility benefiting approximately 3,000 individuals.
The project also offered individual coaching and group workshops to support the emotional well-being of about 24 children from divorced or blended families, helping them express their feelings and enhance their mental health. Furthermore, the Family Market event held in May 2023 showcased positive parent-child interactions, serving as a community education and outreach effort with the participation of 225 attendees.
