The Salvation Army (Shamshuipo Children Development and Family Support Service)
The “Mammy on Vacation” aimed to improve the well-being of underprivileged women in Sham Shui Po impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It provided relaxational training and childcare services, allowing family carers to take a break and create personal space. The fostered connections among participants, building a supportive community to reduce isolation and increase a sense of belonging. By introducing various activities, it encouraged exploration and self-discovery, promoting personal growth and confidence.
The Phase I of the program was successfully completed in June 2023, offering 16 sessions to 29 participants (98 person-time) with positive feedback. Phase 2 began in March 2024 and will be extended into the following biennium, promising continued support and expansion of its benefits to more underprivileged women in the community.
